FIRST  China English-FIRST  LEGO League

After 9 months of preparation, the FIRST CHINA ENGLISH- FIRST LEGO league was successfully held at Shanghai American School Pudong Campus on Jan.26th & 27th, hosted by the FIRST China Robotics Association and organized by Shanghai American School Pudong Campus. In total, 42 teams from international schools, foreign national schools and international sections of public schools took part in this great event.

The English language was the predominant language used for the event. The Shanghai American School Pudong Campus provided a convenient, comfortable and open environment for the event and with lots of positive team feedback. The Event included five main parts of “Research Project”, “Robot Design”, “Team Presentation”, “Field competition” and “core values”. The total scores of a team were based on all the parts, including their social communications, presentation, cooperation, technical explanation, project research, core values etc.

This event was a chance for teams and event coaches to learn and compete at the same time. Coaches, students and all the members learned together, helped each other, encouraged each other and supported each other and hope that everyone had fun together. We also hope that new arrivals to the competition had a chance to experience Gracious Professionalism and bring it to any other competitions they attend in the future.

This event also showed future competition leadership. Many seniors from FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition teams joined the event and came to be the assistant judges and volunteers. The event also contacted some other International Schools and organized a practice competition for FIRST Tech Challenge teams. In the closing ceremony, seniors from FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition teams brought their robots to the stage and made a demonstration to the younger FIRST participants, so that the younger FIRST generation could have an idea that robotics is a way to continue STEM learning throughout their school years. Besides the FIRST Tech Challenge practice competition, this event also included a small practice competition for FIRST LEGO League Jr., which inspired FIRST competition and STEM learning for our youngest learners.
